Sky high big trucks fuel costs - install hydrogen fuel cells
Over the road big trucks burn diesel; now there’s not much profundity in that statement, is there?!. However, it is, prodigious to mention that they burn a lot of it. In this discussion, two problems present themselves: fuel economy, and fuel emissions, and oh yes one more - fuel expenses. One effect’s the other. Fleet owners and owner operators must work at balancing the two in order to satisfy state and Federal regulations and still make a profit.
With diesel fuel prices at $4.00 and more, truck stops while not the enemy, hear a lot of grumbling about pump prices. A semi with two 150 gallon tanks cost $1,200 to fill at $4.00 a gallon. Now suppose that it gets 7 MPG, that’s 2,100 miles. Of course we didn’t consider whether the big rig was loaded or empty. Loaded, it gets less, empty - more. So what do you do? You could purchase a brand new truck, load it up with gimmicks, put your faith in biodiesel, get out of trucking and do something else, or simply bite the bullet. Most truckers simply bite the bullet and get by. Now I’m going to present a system here that should make a lot of sense to you. And when you see where I’m heading with it, I believe you’ll love the idea. And should biodiesel be advanced, no worries, we'll work that in just as well.
Before I spill the beans, I'd like you to think of a campfire. Now nearly everybody enjoys camping, even though some like to take a few amenities along. In any case, sooner or later, a campfire is gonna get built. Now everybody knows that in order to build a decent fire, a good supply of large dry chunks of firewood is needed. Let’s say these large chunks represent the diesel fuel’s hydrocarbon molecules. By the way, kindling is also needed. Now I don’t believe any seasoned camper would try to build a decent fire without kindling – right. Okay, let’s let the kindling symbolize something we produce - hydrogen. And we make it with hydrogen fuel cells. When hydrogen molecules are compared to the hydrocarbon molecules that make up diesel fuel, the difference is substantial. Hydrogen is the smallest element in the universe.
Being it’s a diesel engine, ignition is taken care of, that is, the engines high compression ignites the fuel. So far so good, now let’s add the hydrogen (gas). Just like when we laid the large chunks, you added a bunch of kindling around it. Remember, the small pieces of wood represent the hydrogen molecules. So what happens when you light it off? Well, you light the match, (compression combustion) the kindling (hydrogen molecules) immediately begins to burn. This fire in turn ignites the (diesel fuel’s molecules) larger chunks until the whole pile is ablaze. In this case the fuel is completely engulfed. Makes sense huh?! Did you notice there was no mention of the campfires size (the engines size). In other words, hydrogen will work effectively in a lawn mower’s gasoline engine, in a big trucks engine, to the largest diesel no matter its size.
Well - this isn’t about campfires; it’s about increasing the miles per gallon in big trucks. Do that and you will begin to realize longer hauls, for less cost – isn’t that the bottom line?Another important aspect of burning hydrogen is cleaner combustion. I don’t need to tell you that complete combustion will reduce PM’s NOx, and CO’s. Using a hydrogen boost reduces crank case combustion contamination. Your big trucks engine lubricant stays cleaner longer. This will become apparent when its time to change the oil. Doesn’t that relate to an engines ware–n–tare - the answer is obvious. And if you’re a campfire veteran, you know that a good fire doesn't leave much but fine ash. No big unburned chunks. Hydrogen boost kits are currently available in many sizes, even for DIY'ers. Big truck owners will realize increased fuel mileage, cleaner crank cases, reduced emissions and one more thing - extended idling. Sitting in a truck stop, when it's 95°, it’s okay to idle your semi trucks engine to keep cool. And what about those Wyoming winds., when the chill factor is 30 below, do you want to shut down and freeze your nay-nays. No! be comfortable, you deserve it, because you’ll actually use much less fuel. Now isn't that a big 10-4? You know I'm right!
Oh yes, one more thing – this stuff works... HYDROGEN - really-really works.
